LUDHIANA: Sarabha Nagar-resident Bobby Rana’s friend Laila may be several seas apart on Friendship Day but he’s made sure she knows exactly how much she means to him. He has got a tattoo of her name and a heart done on his back on the eve of Friendship Day. Rana, 32, plans to surprise Laila, who is an Israeli, by showing it to her on web camera on Sunday and chuckles to himself thinking about her reactions.
"Laila loves tattoos and I think she’ll get extremely excited to see it," he said.
Talking about his friendship with Laila, Rana said, "We have been friends for five years and understand each other very much. She is my best friend and the fact that we are so far away doesn’t matter one bit. Trying to bring joy to friends who make several sacrifices for us is the least we can do."
"Just because she is living in Europe and I here does not mean we won’t celebrate our friendship. I will bare my back for her to see the tattoo on webcam and also put pictures of it on a social networking site. I will make sure she is happy and feels special. With her name on me, there is no way I will ever forget our friendship," he added.
For Rana this not the first time he is getting inked. ‘‘I am also fond of tattoos and already have a dragon on my arm,’’ he said.
Pushpa, Rana’s mother, is also all out in support of her son’s decision. "It is a nice tattoo. Besides, I am happy if he is happy. I have noticed that there is a growing trend of getting tattoos of a friend’s name. Bobby makes good friends so I am with him," she said.
Nick Sharma, a tattoo artist in the city, also said many people have been getting their friend’s name tattooed to mark Friendship Day. "Around eight people both boys and girls visited me on Saturday to have a name inked on them," he said.
